Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is faith-integrated mental health peer support?
Faith-integrated mental health peer support combines compassionate emotional support with practical encouragement and goal setting. As a Certified Peer Support Specialist, I walk alongside individuals who are facing life's challenges while honoring their personal values and faith, if they choose. My role is different from counseling or therapy—it's about offering hope, encouragement, accountability, and practical support based on lived experience.
2. How is peer support different from therapy?
Peer support is not therapy, counseling, or clinical treatment. Instead, peer support focuses on shared understanding, encouragement, wellness goals, resource navigation, and emotional support. Many people find peer support helpful alongside therapy, while others seek peer support because they simply want someone to walk beside them through life's challenges.
3. Who can benefit from mental health peer support?
Peer support may be helpful if you're experiencing:
Anxiety or overwhelming stress
Depression or discouragement
Life transitions
Grief or loss
Relationship challenges
Feelings of isolation
Difficulty staying motivated toward wellness goals
A desire for faith-based emotional support
4. Do you offer Christian mental health support?
Yes. Faith integration is available for clients who desire it. My approach is respectful and client-centered, meaning I will never force faith into our conversations. If your faith is important to you, we can incorporate biblical encouragement, prayer (if requested), and Christian values into your wellness journey.
5. What happens during a peer support session?
Each session is personalized to your goals and needs. Together we may:
Talk through current challenges
Set achievable wellness goals
Celebrate progress
Identify helpful resources
Build healthy routines
Develop practical next steps
Receive encouragement and accountability
Every session is focused on supporting your growth and overall wellness.
6. Do you serve clients throughout Central Oregon?
Yes. Hope & Healing Peer Support proudly serves individuals throughout Central Oregon, including Bend, Redmond, Prineville, Sisters, La Pine, Madras, and surrounding communities.
